New Furniture.. Well Refurnished

Here are pictures of some of our furniture that we've refurnished. Looks much better than when we got it.

Here is the couch in the salon. It used to be bright red. Below is our messy looking dog Oscar. He likes the new rug. He told me so.

I love our new cushions on the back deck. It is such a great place to sit and relax.

Soooo busy, well maybe not

We have had so much going on lately, which is why I haven't posted anything for a while. Cleaning and decorating the boat, reupholstering, having companyfor a weekend, getting into an car accident (everyone is fine, thank goodness).

And yet I really can't blame not posting on any of that. The real reason is that I broke Scott's laptop and so now he is using mine. With him working all day, it makes it hard for me to steal some time with it during the day.

I know, I know, I could of done some blogging during the evening, but with all the 2 hour season finales going on, it really wasn't possible.

We hit our 1 year anniversary living on the boat on May 1st. You think we would of had some sort of celebration or at least have toasted it with a martini or something. But nothing. I don't think we even realize it that day. How boring is that.

All I can say is that we still enjoy living on Up & Dirty and have no plans to sell her yet. I am dreading the hot Florida summer though.

New Boat Neighbors

One of the best things about Scott and my decision to live on a boat is all the new people we've met. We lived in our last house for 4 years, and knew maybe 3 or 4 of our neighbors. Now we are constantly meeting new people. We have our neighbors that live on their boats here at the marina, people that have boats here but don't live on them. Then there are those that bring their boats into the marina sometimes for a few days before moving on. And people who have boats are generally very friendly, helpful, and happy people.

Recently 2 sailboats with live aboards have moved in and made our dock their new home. Right next door is a woman living on her boat with her 2 adult children. We got to talking the other day and realized that we are both from Utah. How small a world is that. We grew up about 15 minutes away from each other and now we both live on our boats in Florida. It was crazy. I love having someone with that in common. We can talk about and both understand how we never can have good hair days anymore with all the humidity here that I can still can't get used to.

Back Home

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. We went to Utah for spring break and spent some time skiing and snowmobiling with the boys. Before we left though, we were finally able to put Up & Dirty back into the water. It was really cool to see the lift pick up the boat and slip it gently down in the water.

It's a little hard to see, but the man driving this is sitting in a seat in between the tires on this side of the boat.
He drove it back over the water and then lowers it down.

Scott and I then drove it back up to our marina. It took us about 3 1/2 hours, which was a lot quicker than it took to get down there. Having the bottom done really helped it move smoother and go faster in the water.
And not that I don't love my father-in-law, but it's good to be back in our own house. I mean boat.

Working on the boat

Here is our bed on the boat. We took the mattress off and pulled it apart to work on the tanks underneath it. Scott will at some point have to tell you exactly what's he's doing here.

Meanwhile, it's karaoke night at Fast Boys tonight. Fast Boys is one of our marina restaurants. I love when Scott sings. Did I tell you he's really good! By the way, I don't sing and won't.

Last Saturday, March 1st, Scott took the boat and put it on the hard down in Green Cove Springs. Here it is sitting up on the blocks waiting to get some work done on it. We're having the bottom cleaned and a few other things fixed and worked on.
Here is the ladder on the back that we have to climb to get up on the boat. Scott fell off the ladder Sat. and landed on his back. He was sore for a few days, walking around like an old man, but thankfully he didn't hurt himself more.
We'll have the boat out of the water for a couple of weeks. In the meantime, we'll being staying with Scott's Dad.
